Welcome to my website. I'm pleased that you are interested in my kennel „of Orplid“ which I would like to introduce shortly. I reply with pleasure to your emails also in English and Italian.

The first time I met a Basset Hound was in 1971 in Canada and since then, I have been enamored with this particular breed of dog.

It was in 1985, again in Canada, that my aunt encouraged me to start breeding with „Feline vom Jäger aus Kurpfalz” a red female I purchased in 1984 from Mrs Müller-Henrich. And so the kennel “of Orplid” was born.

Everyone who knows the German poet Möricke will know his ballad “Der letzte König von Orplid“ (“The last king from Orplid”). It is one of my favorite readings. But also family tradition encouraged me to choose this name. As with the decision to choose a Basset Hound as my favorite dog and the 1985 “help” of my aunt to breed with Feline, Canada helped with the naming of my kennel. My aunt bred poodles for many decades under the name of “Orplid's” and so I imported the name to Germany and “Feline vom Jäger aus Kurpfalz” began the ancestry of my “of Orplid”.

"A lot of “Babies” were born in the past years in my house and it is very important for me to breed healthy family dogs with strength of character. I like to remain in contact with the owners of “my” babies. I'm always pleased to get photos of the “puppies”, which I sometimes publish on my website. I also enjoy when they and their families come to visit me.

Have fun “rummaging” on the “of Orplid” website!
